HACSU members win 3.25% pay increase at St John of God

After discussions with HACSU, management at St John of God have agreed to provide staff with a 3.25% pay increase effective fortnight ending 11 November 2010, back payment to 1 July 2010 in relation to this increase will be received by 1 December 2010.

Equal Pay Case Update

The Equal Pay Case is continuing although the original dates for hearing evidence set in September and October 2010 have been extended.
- The parties have been given further time to lodge submissions and witness statements.
- The Government and ACTU have until the 5 November 2010 to lodge their submissions.
- The union has until 17 December, 2010 to reply to any submissions.
- The Full Bench will be doing further workplace inspections at the end of January 2011 and HACSU is currently in the process of organising these visits. This will be to inspect public sector worksites to provide a comparison with the work done in the NGO sector.
- The Full Bench will then hear evidence in February 2011 and receive any final submissions by mid April 2011. This means we won’t expect an outcome in the case until around the middle of next year.
We must keep building HACSU’s presence in your workplace so that we can maintain the value of this win through direct bargaining in future campaigns. The only way to do that is to keep campaigning for there to be high union membership in each and every NGO and Disability Service provider.
