HACSU members win 3.25% pay increase at St John of God

After discussions with HACSU, management at St John of God have agreed to provide staff with a 3.25% pay increase effective fortnight ending 11 November 2010, back payment to 1 July 2010 in relation to this increase will be received by 1 December 2010.

Federal Government Backs Down on Equal Pay Case

As you will already be aware, HACSU members have been campaigning for Equal Pay for Non-Government Disability Support Workers and those working in PDRSS sector.
This has been a fantastically successful campaign, achieving positive results on many fronts:- The State Government heard our call and has committed to support the equal pay case and fund the outcome.
- Legislation for a Portable Long Service Leave Scheme has entered State Parliament and will become law if the Government is re-elected.
- We are running a strong case for Equal Pay which is being heard by Fair Work Australia
- Many NGOs have passed on the 3.25% pay increase that they have been funded for.
The Federal Government’s submission to the Equal Pay case outlines the need to balance the impact of the outcome with the impact on the Federal Budget. This directly contradicts the heads of agreement signed between the Federal Government and Unions.
This is a very worrying development. Urgent discussions are being held with the Federal Government in an attempt to resolve this issue and get them to alter their submission.
If these negotiations are unsuccessful, HACSU, the Australian Services Union and other Unions will be calling on members to rally on Wednesday 15th December.
In the mean time, we need you to let the Federal Government know that this is totally unacceptable.
So we need you to do two things:
- Put the 15th December in your diary now and put plans in place to attend the rally
- Send a message to Julia Gillard, Wane Swann, Chris Evans and Jenny Macklin that this is not acceptable
